Susan Koepplinger's PledgePage
On June 21, 2003, I will be participating in a marathon in Anchorage, Alaska. Yes, a marathon, 26.2 miles! Yes, I will be running (walking, crawling????), but I WILL finish it.
Why? Good question. This is something that I have always wanted to do. I have enjoyed running since I was in middle school and ran with my older sister to help her to prepare for her track season. Before beginning my training, I don't think I had ever run more than 5 miles! But for some reason, this challenge has always been one that has appealed to me. Then, I learned of the Leukemia Society and their Team in Training Program. This is a program that helps to train individuals to run in a marathon and even better, there are 35 of us who are training together just for the Alaska Marathon! The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society strives to find cures for blood related cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. I have chosen to celebrate my good health, by becoming a part of Team in Training. My goal is to run 26.2 miles and to raise $4200 to support the Leukemia Society. I hope you will help me reach my goal and help to find a cure for cancer! If you know of someone fighting or who may have lost the fight to cancer, please let me know and I will include their name on the shirt I wear in the race. Please check out my pages, send me a pep talk when you see my training is lacking and a cheer as I increase my miles! Also, sign my guestbook and let me know what you think! |
